Universele 3/2-weg druk- en extern gestuurde afsluiter met schroefdraadaansluiting. De inlaatdruk (p) kan naar keuze op alle 3 de aansluitingen worden toegepast.
Type 78 kan derhalve worden gebruikt als mengventiel, verdeelventiel en omschakelventiel.
